The Innkeeper ~ The Servant of the Samaritan
If just for a moment I wish to share a story. A story that has been told for centuries. A story that goes beyond gender or race. A story that is timeless and as true today as it was when our King told it. This story is about a Samaritan and and Innkeeper. Let us take that jurney one step at a time:
Luk 10:30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.This man was traveling as he must have done many times over his life. Most of the time it was a time without trouble. A time where nothing bad happened. This road was dangerous. Well known road for thieves and robbers. However it was a fast road. A road that cut his travel time in half I am sure so he thought it was worth the risk.
Many today are doing the same thing. Taking a risk with their lives. Traveling down the road of life warned of the troubles yet they heed them not. They live thinking nothing bad could happen to them. Bad only happens to other people, you know ---- Bad people.
Mat 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:This is Life. Trouble happens - this is fact. Just when you thought it could not get worse - Religion shows it's ugly head:
Luk 10:31-32 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. (32) And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.Yup - you heard it right. Here comes the religious folks who look at you and see tragedy deserved. You were warned - you were told - you should have known better. Sound like an echo from your life? Thought so - mine too.
Too many times we hear the warning and we reject it. Yes this is true and we do deserve what we get as a human race goes. We have all gone astray and have rejected the calling of the Lord. Yes and amen. Once again - Fact is Fact. Religion says PAY PAY PAY! Jesus says "I ALREADY DID!" Not only did He PAY - He paid more just in case it took more! Let's see what happens next.
Luk 10:33-34 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, (34) And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.Jesus found us half dead - robbed - without Value to the religious folks. He too was considered low cast. Was made a little lower then the angles... this was what God intended folks. For the wise to be blown away. To be perplexed by God's simple Love and compassion. Jesus took us - cared for us - and brought us to the Innkeeper to care for us till He returns.
Luk 10:35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.The Host - pandocheus - Innkeeper was given the care of the injured and told to care for him till the Lord returns - Thus we as the healed - the Church - The Innkeeper are commanded to care for they who fall prey to thieves. Let us never forget - we too once laid half dead and someone cared enough for us to bring us to safety and help.
The Family of God
Today more then ever we as the Church must realize - The Family is under attack! The single parent households are an epidemic. The churches today are not doing enough to prevent this instead they are catering to it. The concept of Family Community is foreign to most. The idea of One voice One mind is only to them a dream unreachable in today's world.
The word Church simply means community of Believers. In other words - Family of Believers. This MUST be taught. This MUST be revived! This must not be swept under the perverbial carpet.
We here at Innkeeper Ministry are not just saying this to be catchy. We are Living this in our everyday Ministry and Life. If you are tired of the small clicks in your church and are in need of Family then please examine us and see if God is calling you unto this family. We are NOT sheep stealing - we are sheep protecting! The worse feeling in this world is the feeling of being alone in a crowed room - or church.
